Law Office of Carole M. Megarry
Providing quality representation in family law issues for over twenty-five years.
Practice Overview and Philosophy

The attorney-client relationship in family law matters can be very personal, and often extends over a number of months. Ms. Megarry enters into that relationship by listening carefully to her client's expressed goals, and then taking the time necessary to review with her client to what extent those goals are attainable under the legal system.

Her practice is characterized by:

  • Strong advocacy.
  • Availability and the prompt return of telephone calls and other communications.
  • Respectful listening.
  • Clear written and verbal communications.
  • A civil and respectful approach to the parties and the process.
  • Avoidance of adversary process and personal ill feeling, if possible.
  • Thoughtful analysis of legal issues.
  • Timely and complete preparation of necessary or useful documents.
  • Thorough knowledge of the law and procedure.
  • Thorough preparation of testimony, effective exhibits and memoranda in the event trial or contested hearings are necessary.

People are rightfully concerned about the cost of legal services, and Ms. Megarry encourages her clients to control the cost of their litigation in various ways. Patricia Williams, her very experienced paralegal, often prepares first drafts of documents for review and revision by Ms. Megarry, thereby reducing the cost of the overall representation.

All documents coming into the office are promptly provided to clients as are all outgoing documents. Clients actively participate in their representation. At the outset of representation, the client is presented with a retainer agreement which sets forth the terms of the representation. Billing is done monthly and there is no charge to discuss any questions regarding bills.
